Jaguar

The Jaguar is a carnivore feline whose length varies between 1.6 and 1.8 cm and the tail may add about 75 cm more. His shoulder-height is about 67-76 cm. The females are usually 10-20% smaller than males.

It is fundamentally alone. Hunting ambushes, being opportunistic when choosing dams. The adult has an exceptionally powerful bite, allowing them to pierce turtle shells and use an unusual method to kill: head directly attacks the brain reaching the dam. It is very similar in appearance to the leopard but is generally larger, has a more robust constitution and behavior and they are more suitable habitat for the tiger.

Habitat & Range: Dense humid forests can accommodate a wide variety of woodland or open. It is closely associated with the presence of water and stands out as a feline that enjoys swimming.

In Costa Rica, the jaguar is located in Corcovado, Tortuguero, Chirripo, Arenal / Monteverde. It is estimated that in the Talamanca area, south of the country and in the north.
